Pastor Lee Cooper

Pastor Lee Cooper Rev. Lee E. Cooper, Jr., was reared in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He has served in the ministry for 29 years, from 1979 to present. He attended Bishop College, Dallas, Texas and received the Bachelor of Arts degree. From 1985 to 1986 he attended Medical College of Virginia, Richmond Virginia and received the C.P.E. Training. He received the Master of Divinity degree from the School of Theology, Virginia Union University, Richmond ,Virginia in 1986.Attended Harvard Divinity School, Cambridge, Massachusetts during the summer of 2002.

He served as student intern at Fifth Baptist Church, Richmond , Virginia from 1985 to 1986, and as interim pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Glen Allen, Virginia from 1985 to 1986, and as summer youth director of Quinoccasin Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia in 1985 to 1986.

Rev. Cooper has served on the One Church One child state Advisory Board 1989-2002 and on the Citizens League of Central Oklahoma. Rev. Cooper has served as president of Progressive Oklahoma Baptist Convention from 1989-1993, as Chaplain of Oklahoma State Senate in 1990 and 1993, and on the Board of Directors of the Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City, Inc. ( 1988-1994) He is presently serving on the Education and Publication Board of the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc. on the Southwestern Urban Development Corporation Executive Board (2002-present).Personnel committee PNBC (2003-present) to name a few. Pastor Cooper is serving as the first African American to serve on the Capital Baptist Association Committee or committees and the first to serve on the Executive Board of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma (2000-2004). He was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree from the University of Lynchburg ( 2005). Worked with the city leaders and NAACP to establish a Citizens Advisory Committee to the chief of police for OKC, Chairman of the City Wide MLK Service, Social chair person of the Concerned Clergy for Spiritual Renewal, Board member of KIPP: Reach College Preparatory School( 2002- present). Graduated from Leadership Oklahoma City Class (2008-2009).

Since 1986 Rev. Lee E. Cooper, Jr. has served as pastor of the Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Under the leadership of Pastor Cooper in 1996 the church mortgage was burned . 1999 the church built a $1.2 million dollar state of the art Sanctuary. The congregation continues to grow. From 32 to over 1500 members. Prospect Church now has three services and two locations.

Rev. Cooper is a devoted family man and was married to Shelia W. Cooper. Who is now deceased. born unto this union are two sons Lee E. Cooper III and Derrick P. Cooper.
